Text:  Nehemiah 4:1-6

Finishing is always the harder work … especially finishing well.  You don’t get rewarded for starting. You get rewarded for finishing.

“For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’”   (Luke 14:29-30)

“A great hope fell, you heard no noise, the ruin was within.  Oh cunning wreck that told no tale and let no witness in.”         -Emily Dickinson (1830-1886)

So what is the wall you need to rebuild or just finish building?

They haven’t learned yet that following God is not about how you feel but about the truth of who God is! Have we?

And I wonder how much of our lives you and I have spent trying to prove them all wrong. Trying to prove it just isn’t so.

“If you make disciples, you will always get a church. But if you set out to make a church, you don’t always get disciples…”     -Michael Breen

You are not what you have been labeled. You are who you are in Jesus Christ.

What Should We do About it?

  • Nehemiah prayed and put God on the spot.
  • Nehemiah didn’t retaliate.
  • Nehemiah kept on working.
