May 31, 2019

May is an incredibly busy month in the life of our church and our families. It seems every weekend has been marked by graduation ceremonies from high school, college, and seminary. Pastor Tim, Pastor Tanner, and myself celebrated our 4th, 8th, and 12th graders this month; Congratulations to all our students for achieving these wonderful milestones!

Our new vision statement is “We see a church that loves our neighbors, reaches the nations, and raises up the next generation by courageously living out new, faith-filled expressions of our rich heritage.” No matter where you are in life, there are always ways to raise up people behind you, and we want to be a community that is actively seeking ways to raise up the generation underneath us.

As students graduate and move into the next season of their lives, we would like to challenge you in two different ways. First, how are you reaching out to the generation beneath you? It may seem difficult and scary at times, but brainstorm and dream up ways to seek others out, especially those in a stage of life you’ve already experienced! Second, we would ask you to please pray with us about how, as a church, we can follow God’s call to raise up the next generation. Often it feels we get bogged down in the details of the moment and forget to propel people forward and set them up for success.

First Alliance has been blessed with students and people of all ages who are looking forward to the next season of life and are in the unknown of transition. Let’s rally around them, take them under our wings, and participate in the community God is calling us to!
