Speaker: Dr. Steve Elliott

Text: John 17

The world as Jesus uses it stands for: “life that has organized itself without reference to God”.

Beautiful people don’t just happen. They are shaped by life itself to be beautiful.

Discipline yourself to be surprised not by suffering but by joy.   Henri Nouwen

There is no recorded place where Jesus prayed with his disciples.

While we pray as sinners, the sinless son of God does not.

“A conversation inside the trinity.” This is God conversing with God.  Donald Grey Barnhouse

“There lies the greatest ruler of men this world has ever seen.”  Edwin Stanton

How Jesus is Glorified in the Cross

#1. Jesus proves his power

#2. Vindicates the sinlessness of his life

#3. The completion of all his Father  gave him to do

#4. He was perfectly obedient to the  Father’s will

#5. It’s the way back to the glory

The triumph of the cross ensures that while Satan will trouble us and tempt us, he can no longer own us.

If you think about it, our only hope is sin

When we side step the word sin we don’t realize that we are actually side stepping hope.  Barbara Brown Taylor

Identifying the cause gives us hope for dealing with the effects.  And identifying the enemy gives us hope that we can defeat it.

“I cried the day I was born and every day since shows why.”   -Unknown
