  1. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
  2. Share with your group about a time when you wondered if God knew what He was doing with your life.
  3. What would your first choice world be? How do you feel about your journey with God if life as you have experienced hasn’t measured up to that?
  4. Talk about a time when you were sure you did everything right, yet it turned out badly. What was your take-away from that?
  5. In this world opportunities pass us by or were kept from us or are taken from us, as happened to Daniel. If you have experienced this sort of thing, what was it and how have you come to live with it … reconciled yourself to it?
  6. There are circumstances far beyond our control that impact our lives. What are the things we can control when such things happen?
  7. When were the moments in your journey when the temptation to self-pity knocked loudest at your door? Looking back from where you are today, how might you have dealt with such moments differently now?
  8. Where have you seen the hand of God move redemptively in your second choice world?
  9. What is one just noticeable change you might make in your thinking in light of this sermon?
  10. Was there an ‘aha’ moment for you in this sermon? Share it with the group.
