The Message is Hope

First Alliance Church

Newsletter

With a smile on their faces and joy in their hearts, the kids in Peru are ready to help teach you something about yourself and about God’s amazing love. And they won’t use a word of English to do it. “That is backward,” you say.  “We send our teams to serve them.”  You are correct! From 2008 we have sent 7 teams on 10-day trips to Trujillo, Peru to bring God’s love and hope to some of the poorest people in their city.

Our teams have done construction and maintenance, led VBS, played with kids in the community, sang at banquets, shared our testimonies, worshipped in a language we did not understand, and brought great encouragement to the Peruvian ministry leaders. Even now 2 of our high school graduates are in Trujillo serving as interns on a three-month assignment as part of a gap year program! If you would like to hear about their adventures check out our blog at http://blogs.faclex.com/missions/.

We have seen the ministries of Inca Link, the organization with whom we work in Trujillo, grow and expand over the last 10 years. We have seen the leaders mature, heard their dreams for reaching the lost in their city, and seen many dreams become realities. We have seen the kids who played with the wheel barrows at our first construction site become leaders in the ministry to youth. We have seen the leaders wrestle with God and submit to changes in the plan. We have seen changes in the culture within the community who work in the garbage dump.

We go to Peru to join our brothers and sisters in Christ in the work that God is doing in their city. The Inca Link leaders set the direction and define the work we do. We bring only humble hearts, bodies ready to get to work, the message of hope, and a few craft supplies! God is the Teacher. He works through us, through the Inca Link staff and interns, and through the people He has called us to serve.

We are currently forming a team to send next year (June 15-25). If you would like to participate in God’s work in Trujillo and meet some of those smiling children – come join us! Applications can be downloaded from http://www.faclex.com/ministries/missions/ or picked up at the church office. Applications are due back to the office by October 31st. Families, couples, adults and youth alike should consider joining the team.

We will go to serve and bless others, but the blessings will flow in both directions!

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6 (NIV)

Hay un solo cuerpo y un solo Espíritu, así como también fueron llamados a una sola esperanza; un solo Señor, una sola fe, un solo bautismo; un solo Dios y Padre de todos, que está sobre todos y por medio de todos y en todos.  Efesios 4:4-6 (NVI)
