Have you ever heard of the term “compassion fatigue”?

That is what happens when we have had so much exposure to things that require a compassionate response, that we begin to lose the ability to feel on a deep level.

Media has helped us to be informed, but it also has overloaded us with statistics, video clips, and sound bytes that can overwhelm even the most empathetic person.

Enter: HOPE!

Next weekend, we will be looking into issues surrounding human trafficking; obviously a sobering and serious subject.  We will look at the problem, both global and local.  BUT….we will also look at ways that regular people are making a difference.  We will hear how people are working to rescue victims and prevent people from becoming victims.  We will hear stories of God’s redemption in the midst of poverty, suffering and exploitation.  We will experience testimonies of HOPE! We will also learn how we can make a real difference for real people, right where we are.

OVERWHELMING PROBLEM + COMPASSION = great potential for COMPASSION FATIGUE

OVERWHELMING PROBLEM + COMPASSION + HOPE = great capacity for COMPASSIONATE ACTION
