Peace

Jesus stated in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

In my last newsletter to the church I mentioned silence and solitude. The responses that were shared with me about that touched my heart as they included how God is calling some of you to turn off the TV and put down your cell phones to be intentional in time with Him.

Is this concept of peace another part of the call for us to become intimate with our Lord and Savior? Do we somehow need to figure out how to have peace when the world wants to tell us differently?

His peace, our Lord and Savior’s peace, will be different than what the world wants to give us.

How do we face another day with the unknown looming around the corner? How do I, as a mom of college students, know that I can have peace while my two daughters are four hours away from me? How do those who have loved ones battling cancer have peace? How can we as followers of Jesus be around other people when our family is struggling financially? How do you go to work when your body is in pain? How does someone find purpose in life when it’s not turning out to be the way we always imagined it would be for us?

Tuesday, December 4th , from 7:00-9:00 p.m. our women are hosting PEACE, a gathering of women who want to begin this conversation while also enjoying time with other women. Ladies of all ages are invited. Sharing with us about their stories concerning peace will be Laurel Setzer, Shalomel Jatau, Fran Doty, and Heather Smith. Finger food refreshments will be served. Worship will be led by Rachael Hilliard. A love gift will be collected for five of our Great Commission Women projects which minister to orphans and women in intentional ways.

Invitations that you can share with your friends will be distributed on November 18th and 25th .
