Thanking the Edward Kimballs Among Us

Ever heard of Edward Kimball? Most people haven’t. He was a Sunday school teacher, wrangling young energetic boys and burdened for them to know Jesus. One such boy he led to Jesus was a man named D. L. Moody (you’ve probably heard of him). Later, a man named Wilbur Chapman, under Moody’s ministry, became a Christian, and eventually an evangelist, preaching to thousands in his lifetime.

One of those thousands was a professional baseball player named Billy Sunday. Sunday quit baseball to serve Jesus and had his own crusade ministry, which touched the life of young Mordecai Ham. Ham also ended up leading crusades, and one evening in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the mid 1930’s, a young man named Billy Graham gave his life to Jesus (I hope you’ve heard of him…).

Edward Kimball

This chain that starts with Edward Kimball leads to countless people hearing the Gospel and the world being impacted for Jesus. Kimball would have never imagined the results of his faithfulness in leading those squirrely boys in Sunday school.

You may not know it, but First Alliance is FULL of Edward Kimballs – folks who give their time, energy, and love for Jesus to making a difference in the lives of the next generation – over 70 of them EVERY SUNDAY.

This Sunday, May 5, we’ll be taking time to publicly thank the amazing volunteers who serve in FAC Kids, Middle School, and High School. Without them, our ministries just would not happen. These people may never see the fruit of their labor with the next generation, but we’re incredibly thankful for the eternal impact they are having NOW in our ministries.

We don’t have to wait a hundred years to appreciate the significance of all that our volunteers do – we get to appreciate them together this week! If you know people who volunteer with us, be sure to say “Thank You” to them this Sunday. And pray for the ministry they have – a ministry that will be impacting the world for Jesus for many years to come.
