Last Sunday, I taught on Jesus’ challenge to take up our crosses and follow Him, from Matthew 16. I encouraged everyone to take a piece of wood, symbolizing the cross beam, and put it in a place where it can be seen by you and others. I have had SO MANY encouraging responses this week! Several people have sent me pictures of it in their car or their locker, people have put it in their bedroom or office, and Dale Ditto pulled it out of his suit coat pocket while I was standing talking to him earlier in the week!
As I have seen and heard you respond to Jesus’ call this week I have been reminded of how thankful I am for the people here at First Alliance. I am thankful for your commitment to following Jesus, both individually and as a church family. I am thankful as I watch interactions on Sundays and throughout the week, seeing the joy that we bring each other.
We have seen a huge influx of new students to our high school ministry which is awesome! My continual prayer for our student ministry, and in turn the whole church, is that we would be a place of safety, welcoming, and love for all. May our desire to be little Jesuses and the joy we find in our Master and Savior infect everything we do and everyone we meet.
