The Message is Hope

First Alliance Church

When our family moved from Indiana to Kentucky almost just three years ago, that word kept coming up. Fear wanted to overtake my every action and keep me from even moving some days. The Lord kept asking me to trust Him with my kids, our home, my job, and my husband’s job. This was NOT an easy task. Maybe it has a lot to do with my sense of needing to be in control? (Embarrassingly, it actually had a lot to do with that need.)

I have not mastered the idea of trust, but it seems as though I have been blessed with being given many opportunities to practice trusting God. Could it be that I am not alone? Would you also agree with me that it is difficult?

Our retreat team has chosen TRUST for this year’s theme for our women’s retreat which takes place April 12th-13th at Cedarmore Retreat Center in Bagdad, Kentucky. The theme verse is Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget the former things. Do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” We are also extremely excited to have Heather Smith as our speaker this year, and we anticipate hearing from God His Truth about trusting Him in all circumstances.

Flyers will be distributed this Sunday, March 3rd, between services. You can use these to invite a friend or as a reminder for yourself that registration opens March 10th and only lasts thru March 24th. Women can register online at through those dates or also in the atrium of the church on March 10th, 17th, and 24th.

If a weekend is not something that works for you, our Life to Life Tables also have sign ups on March 10th and 17th in the atrium. These are intentional times for small groups of women to gather in homes to have meaningful conversations.

Please contact me with any questions.

Trusting the One who knows us intimately,

Susan Scott
