Don’t you love being able at times to just pick up your phone and “google it”? It’s truly amazing the information that is at our fingertips. But this can have a negative side to it. We start to think that we know or can know everything.  Our smartphone culture helps us think that there should be nothing that we can’t comprehend, or if there is, we need just consult an online expert or Wikipedia!

Unfortunately, you and I both know that there are things that happen that don’t have easy solutions, and there are questions that we have that don’t have easy answers. As believers, we are dealing with a God whose ways are not our ways. His timetable if often not ours.  I’m discovering that He really is okay with me being uncomfortable at times, because the unknown is not unknown to Him.  He knows the beginning from the end. In fact, He’s the only one who can know perfectly all of the ins and outs of our lives. He’s okay with questions, gray areas, suffering, seeming injustice, and many other things that we struggle to understand.

Some of you may know the old gospel song, “We’ll Understand It Better By and By”. The hymn affirms the old truth that there may be trials and mysteries that we encounter and that we won’t understand, but when we get to heaven by and by, we’ll understand it better. Is this sentiment to coarse for our enlightened era? Or is it an aspect of faith to say, “Lord, I don’t have to understand it like you do – I will just be content to surrender to Your care.” What questions do you have that you can surrender?

Grace and Peace to you – see you Sunday!
