Speaker: Dr. Steve Elliott

Text: John 17:6-19

You open the gift and it’s nothing you expected at all.

What would happen if you offered yourself to someone, and when they “opened you” they discovered you were not the gift they expected?

We commonly speak in terms of Jesus being God’s gift to us. But here in verse 2 and 6, Jesus speaks of us being God’s gift to Jesus.

“Our Master accepts the sincerity of our faith and graciously passes over all our weaknesses and infirmities that afflict it.” – Matthew Henry

Imagine if you can that someone infinitely more consequential than the pastor has your prayer card.

“The Bible says…!”  S. M. Lockridge

His teaching holds us in place in a world that has little or no place for the truth.

Reality has not caught up with God’s vision of the future.

God gives us to His Son and His Son gives us to this world. There is no other plan “B”.

“But in real life evil does not attack: it seduces.” -Joaquin Phoenix

Parts of the church of Jesus Christ hollow out the name of the Father rather than hallow it with their obedience to His truth.
